Softener Plant

 

Softening of water by the ion exchange process involves the exchange or substitution of the hardness minerals of Calcium and Magnesium minerals. The exchange is made possible because the minerals are ionic in nature often called ionized impurities which means they have an electrical charge. The ion exchange process is based on the fact that like charges repel one another and unlike charges attract.

An ion exchange softener exchanges the hardness minerals calcium and magnesium dissolved in water for the soft mineral sodium contained on the softener resin which does for less damage to objects it contacts principally because it does not build upon surfaces as scale deposits.

As the calcium and magnesium contact the resin beds in their travel through the resin tank they displace the sodium ions from the exchange sites. During the ion exchange process relatively small amounts of other strongly charged cation removed the calcium and Magnesium.

Demineralisation is remove the total dissolved solids (TDS) from water. A properly packaged unit incorporates the principles of ion exchange, degasification and polishing to produce mineral free water.

Sara Water Technologies  incorporates good design procedures for optimum results from demineralisation. With mixed bed (MB) ion exchanger, high purity water can be produced for high-pressure boiler applications. Proprietary Ion exchange resins used in our demineralisation plants comply with stringent quality norms.

Demineralised water finds wide application in the fields of steam, power, process and cooling. We have a several successful installations in major power plants, steel mills, refineries, petrochemical complexes, etc.

Mixed Bed Polisher (MB unit)

 

Sara Water Technologies can design and make mixed bed polishing units to suit all of customer’s need. Cation and Anion resins are combined in a vessel to produce ultra pure water. Usually a mixed bed unit contains strong acid Cation (SAC) resin and strong base Anion (SBA) resins combined to a ratio of approximately 40% Cation resin to 60% Anion resin. (All resin volumes are dependent upon the feed water analysis and the required quantity of treated water).Mixed bed polishers are typically installed when a water quality of less than 1 micro ohm conductivity is required. Normally mixed bed polishers are installed after a standard Reverse Osmosis or De mineraliser (DM Plant), to produce ultra high quality water. The Cation resins in mixed bed units are of a higher specific gravity and settle at the bottom of the vessel at the same time the Anion resin will automatically float to the top.
